Vor einigen Jahren hatte ich "Otto & Alwin"
modelliert, bekannte
Comicfiguren aus dem DDR-Pioniermagazin Frösi.
Dank des 3D-Druck-verfahrens konnte ich beide endlich
reproduzieren, vor allem
kleiner als im Original. Ob sie nun in Farbe ihrem Erfinder Jürgen
Günter gefallen hätten? Some years ago I sculpted "Otto & Alwin" two comic characters from the GDR magazine Frösi. Now I was able to 3D-print them in a preferred smaller size. Finally painted with colours I wonder if they would have got the approval of their creator Jürgen Günther... |
Above:
up to 150-200 photographs where shot, from as many angles as possible
so
the software 3DF Zephyr could
calculate a detailed 3D model. Before the calculation process,
masks needed to be created to separate the object from the background. Right: to correct and clean-up minor surface errors Blender was used. Below: the different stages Alwin went through. |
3D print | clean | sanded | white coat | colour paint | black paint |
Otto needed some tinkering to figure out how to divide the 3D model into suitable printing parts (I am still looking for a better solution). |
size comparision orginal/copy

12,8 cm | 9,5 cm | 7,5 cm | 5 cm |
Ich könnte mir gut vorstellen, mein 35 Jahre jüngeres Ich hätte diese beiden Figuren
liebend gern und mit leuchtenden Augen in den Händen
gehalten... I could imagine my 35 years younger self would have loved to hold these figurines in his hands...big-eyed with delight. |
