Der Sonnenuntergang in der Ludwig-Wucherer-Straße hier in Halle zieht Ende Juni immer wieder einige Schaulustige an. Aus der Not eine Tugend machend, habe ich diese einfach bewußt integriert. Was die Aufnahmen letztendlich sogar interessanter gemacht hat. End of June the sunset spectacle in the Ludwig-Wucherer-Straße here in Halle/Saale gets a lot of attention. Here is a preliminary drawing of Pierre Richard for a another caricature of my ongoing project. Since previous post I am trying to find the caricature with the pencil on paper first, before digitally paint the final color version.

Today I did this caricature of Gerard Depardieu. This time old fashioned on paper, it is meant to be a preliminary drawing for a another painting of my caricature series I started this year.

Jean

Jean Marais still impresses me today with his knack for playing several characters side by side, prominently seen in the Fantomas series. So after Louis DeFunès here is another caricature of a well known french actor from the past.

Terence

I just finished the next caricature, this time it is Terence Hill best known as sidekick of Bud Spencer (see previous blog post). It is funny, now I see the other caricatures I made with different eyes.

Bud

After the experience of the previous caricature (as mentioned before it was the first serious one after quite some time) I worked on Bud Spencer, another "companion" of my childhood. Again, painting digitally I had the freedom to change things drastically as the whole process was improvised - as usual. Using several film stills from a video file helped me to find references for certain sections, as there was not one single image that had every visual information I was looking for. The original idea I had in the beginning I discarded for the lack of reference and there is still room for improvement, but I guess it is better to work on another caricature instead!
